L’école Au‑cœur‑de‑l’île is a francophone school constructed with mass timber in Comox. Mass‑timber buildings require special attention to moisture management and detailing to protect the wood structure. We installed roofing and architectural cladding across 48,438 square feet, working closely with the architect to select materials that complement the exposed wood while providing durable protection. Our crews fabricated custom flashings and parapet caps in our shop to ensure precise fit and consistent colour. The finished roof and cladding system stands up to heavy rain and wind while preserving the warm aesthetic of the timber and glass façade.
